Well done to our club's coaching coordinator Dáire Coughlan who is in Istanbul for the Amputee WAFF World Cup 2022 as a member of the Ireland backroom staff.

In the qualifications 48 countries from 5 continents took part in 6 qualifying tournaments with the top 24 qualifying for this year's World Cup Finals. Just a few short hours after Stephen Kenny’s side secured their UEFA Nations League B status with a dramatic win over Armenia, Daire jetted off to Turkey with the Irish team. Despite enduring a slight delay to their flight from Dublin airport, Ireland’s preparations for the tournament have gone well according to their manager Christy McElligott, who is leading Ireland into their third World Cup Finals. Having finished 13th at the last WAFF World Cup in Mexico back in 2018, Daire reckons this time the Boys in Green will be looking to improve on that, with their aim to finish in the top ten.

Ireland were drawn in Group D where they faced Morocco, Iran and Brazil in the group stages - depending on the nature of the results for Ireland the tournament will conclude on the 9th of October.
