We’re delighted to announce that your club’s new Astro pitch is ready for use and yes, that’s a real photo of our Astro, not one from the internet !

We’re just over a month behind schedule... the quality issue with the Astro carpet pushed us into the run of awful weather these past few weeks, but we’re there now - better late than never !

There are still a few small bits and pieces to finish off, and due to delays and backlog with the ESB, we’ve had to install a temporary generator until our 3-phase electricity supply is connected, but if you’ve been up recently I'm sure you’ll agree the new pitch has already transformed the look and layout of the grounds. It represents a major investment for the club - around €700,000 funded through a mix of fundraising, community and company donations, grants, your membership and bank financing.

Budget-wise, we were pretty much on target until we looked at the old electrics for our Safe Electric Cert required by ESB. Once we opened things up, we discovered most of the original external lighting, some underground cabling and other electrics needed full replacement. To be fair, they lasted us well, most were over 25 years old, but it was an accident waiting to happen. That work added roughly €20k to the project cost, which we’ve now covered by increasing our Community Financing Loan with Clann Credo.
